Learning Roadmap
Follow the path from first sounds to fluent reading. Each dot is a lesson. Milestones mark new sounds introduced. The reading journey begins here. Phase 1 introduces the first 10 sounds and teaches blending — the core skill of sounding out words. Phase 2 doubles the learner's sound knowledge and introduces digraphs, long vowels, and sight words. Sentences become longer and more interesting. Phase 3 is the longest phase, introducing all remaining single letter sounds, digraphs, and r-controlled vowels. Phase 4 introduces vowel team spellings — pairs of letters that make one vowel sound together. Phase 5 introduces diphthongs, additional digraphs, the short-oo sound, and the unvoiced th — filling in important gaps for fluent reading. Phase 6 teaches consonant blends, advanced vowel patterns, silent letters, the -ed suffix, soft c/g rules, and additional ending blends. Phase 7 covers remaining blends, silent letter patterns, double consonants, common suffixes, and syllable types — completing the phonics curriculum.
